CVE-2024-35870 2 Linux, Redhat 3 Linux Kernel, Enterprise Linux, Rhel Eus 2026-08-04 9.8 Critical
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: smb: client: fix UAF in smb2_reconnect_server() The UAF bug is due to smb2_reconnect_server() accessing a session that is already being teared down by another thread that is executing __cifs_put_smb_ses(). This can happen when (a) the client has connection to the server but no session or (b) another thread ends up setting @ses->ses_status again to something different than SES_EXITING. To fix this, we need to make sure to unconditionally set @ses->ses_status to SES_EXITING and prevent any other threads from setting a new status while we're still tearing it down. The following can be reproduced by adding some delay to right after the ipc is freed in __cifs_put_smb_ses() - which will give smb2_reconnect_server() worker a chance to run and then accessing @ses->ipc: kinit ... mount.cifs //srv/share /mnt/1 -o sec=krb5,nohandlecache,echo_interval=10 [disconnect srv] ls /mnt/1 &>/dev/null sleep 30 kdestroy [reconnect srv] sleep 10 umount /mnt/1 ... CVE-2024-35869 2 Linux, Redhat 2 Linux Kernel, Enterprise Linux 2026-08-04 9.8 Critical
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: smb: client: guarantee refcounted children from parent session Avoid potential use-after-free bugs when walking DFS referrals, mounting and performing DFS failover by ensuring that all children from parent @tcon->ses are also refcounted. They're all needed across the entire DFS mount. Get rid of @tcon->dfs_ses_list while we're at it, too.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mlxsw: spectrum_acl_tcam: Fix possible use-after-free during rehash The rehash delayed work migrates filters from one region to another according to the number of available credits. The migrated from region is destroyed at the end of the work if the number of credits is non-negative as the assumption is that this is indicative of migration being complete. This assumption is incorrect as a non-negative number of credits can also be the result of a failed migration. The destruction of a region that still has filters referencing it can result in a use-after-free [1]. Fix by not destroying the region if migration failed. CVE-2024-35843 2 Linux, Redhat 2 Linux Kernel, Enterprise Linux 2026-08-04 8.8 High
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: iommu/vt-d: Use device rbtree in iopf reporting path The existing I/O page fault handler currently locates the PCI device by calling pci_get_domain_bus_and_slot(). This function searches the list of all PCI devices until the desired device is found. To improve lookup efficiency, replace it with device_rbtree_find() to search the device within the probed device rbtree. The I/O page fault is initiated by the device, which does not have any synchronization mechanism with the software to ensure that the device stays in the probed device tree. Theoretically, a device could be released by the IOMMU subsystem after device_rbtree_find() and before iopf_get_dev_fault_param(), which would cause a use-after-free problem. Add a mutex to synchronize the I/O page fault reporting path and the IOMMU release device path. This lock doesn't introduce any performance overhead, as the conflict between I/O page fault reporting and device releasing is very rare.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: brcmfmac: Fix use-after-free bug in brcmf_cfg80211_detach This is the candidate patch of CVE-2023-47233 : https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2023-47233 In brcm80211 driver,it starts with the following invoking chain to start init a timeout worker: ->brcmf_usb_probe ->brcmf_usb_probe_cb ->brcmf_attach ->brcmf_bus_started ->brcmf_cfg80211_attach ->wl_init_priv ->brcmf_init_escan ->INIT_WORK(&cfg->escan_timeout_work, brcmf_cfg80211_escan_timeout_worker); If we disconnect the USB by hotplug, it will call brcmf_usb_disconnect to make cleanup. The invoking chain is : brcmf_usb_disconnect ->brcmf_usb_disconnect_cb ->brcmf_detach ->brcmf_cfg80211_detach ->kfree(cfg); While the timeout woker may still be running. This will cause a use-after-free bug on cfg in brcmf_cfg80211_escan_timeout_worker. Fix it by deleting the timer and canceling the worker in brcmf_cfg80211_detach. [arend.vanspriel@broadcom.com: keep timer delete as is and cancel work just before free]

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: netfilter: nf_tables: use timestamp to check for set element timeout Add a timestamp field at the beginning of the transaction, store it in the nftables per-netns area. Update set backend .insert, .deactivate and sync gc path to use the timestamp, this avoids that an element expires while control plane transaction is still unfinished. .lookup and .update, which are used from packet path, still use the current time to check if the element has expired. And .get path and dump also since this runs lockless under rcu read size lock. Then, there is async gc which also needs to check the current time since it runs asynchronously from a workqueue.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: crypto: qat - resolve race condition during AER recovery During the PCI AER system's error recovery process, the kernel driver may encounter a race condition with freeing the reset_data structure's memory. If the device restart will take more than 10 seconds the function scheduling that restart will exit due to a timeout, and the reset_data structure will be freed. However, this data structure is used for completion notification after the restart is completed, which leads to a UAF bug. This results in a KFENCE bug notice. BUG: KFENCE: use-after-free read in adf_device_reset_worker+0x38/0xa0 [intel_qat] Use-after-free read at 0x00000000bc56fddf (in kfence-#142): adf_device_reset_worker+0x38/0xa0 [intel_qat] process_one_work+0x173/0x340 To resolve this race condition, the memory associated to the container of the work_struct is freed on the worker if the timeout expired, otherwise on the function that schedules the worker. The timeout detection can be done by checking if the caller is still waiting for completion or not by using completion_done() function.

Note that if llsec_lookup_key() finds a key, it gets a refcount via llsec_key_get() and locally copies key id from key_entry (which is a list element). In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/i915/vma: Fix UAF on destroy against retire race Object debugging tools were sporadically reporting illegal attempts to free a still active i915 VMA object when parking a GT believed to be idle. We could prevent from that race by serializing i915_active_fini() with __active_retire() via ref->tree_lock, but that wouldn't stop the VMA from being used, e.g. from __i915_vma_retire() called at the end of __active_retire(), after that VMA has been already freed by a concurrent i915_vma_destroy() on return from the i915_active_fini(). Then, we should rather fix the issue at the VMA level, not in i915_active. Since __i915_vma_parked() is called from __gt_park() on last put of the GT's wakeref, the issue could be addressed by holding the GT wakeref long enough for __active_retire() to complete before that wakeref is released and the GT parked. I believe the issue was introduced by commit d93939730347 ("drm/i915: Remove the vma refcount") which moved a call to i915_active_fini() from a dropped i915_vma_release(), called on last put of the removed VMA kref, to i915_vma_parked() processing path called on last put of a GT wakeref. However, its visibility to the object debugging tool was suppressed by a bug in i915_active that was fixed two weeks later with commit e92eb246feb9 ("drm/i915/active: Fix missing debug object activation"). A VMA associated with a request doesn't acquire a GT wakeref by itself. Instead, it depends on a wakeref held directly by the request's active intel_context for a GT associated with its VM, and indirectly on that intel_context's engine wakeref if the engine belongs to the same GT as the VMA's VM. Those wakerefs are released asynchronously to VMA deactivation. Fix the issue by getting a wakeref for the VMA's GT when activating it, and putting that wakeref only after the VMA is deactivated. However, exclude global GTT from that processing path, otherwise the GPU never goes idle. Since __i915_vma_retire() may be called from atomic contexts, use async variant of wakeref put. Also, to avoid circular locking dependency, take care of acquiring the wakeref before VM mutex when both are needed. v7: Add inline comments with justifications for: - using untracked variants of intel_gt_pm_get/put() (Nirmoy), - using async variant of _put(), - not getting the wakeref in case of a global GTT, - always getting the first wakeref outside vm->mutex. v6: Since __i915_vma_active/retire() callbacks are not serialized, storing a wakeref tracking handle inside struct i915_vma is not safe, and there is no other good place for that. Use untracked variants of intel_gt_pm_get/put_async(). v5: Replace "tile" with "GT" across commit description (Rodrigo), - ---truncated---
