| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
net: atm: fix crash due to unvalidated vcc pointer in sigd_send()
Reproducer available at [1].
The ATM send path (sendmsg -> vcc_sendmsg -> sigd_send) reads the vcc
pointer from msg->vcc and uses it directly without any validation. This
pointer comes from userspace via sendmsg() and can be arbitrarily forged:

In normal operation, the kernel sends the vcc pointer to the signaling
daemon via sigd_enq() when processing operations like connect(), bind(),
or listen(). The daemon is expected to return the same pointer when
responding. However, a malicious daemon can send arbitrary pointer values.
Fix this by introducing find_get_vcc() which validates the pointer by
searching through vcc_hash (similar to how sigd_close() iterates over
all VCCs), and acquires a reference via sock_hold() if found.
Since struct atm_vcc embeds struct sock as its first member, they share
the same lifetime. Therefore using sock_hold/sock_put is sufficient to
keep the vcc alive while it is being used.
Note that there may be a race with sigd_close() which could mark the vcc
with various flags (e.g., ATM_VF_RELEASED) after find_get_vcc() returns.
However, sock_hold() guarantees the memory remains valid, so this race
only affects the logical state, not memory safety.

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
spi: fix statistics allocation
The controller per-cpu statistics is not allocated until after the
controller has been registered with driver core, which leaves a window
where accessing the sysfs attributes can trigger a NULL-pointer
dereference.
Fix this by moving the statistics allocation to controller allocation
while tying its lifetime to that of the controller (rather than using
implicit devres). |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
btrfs: log new dentries when logging parent dir of a conflicting inode
If we log the parent directory of a conflicting inode, we are not logging
the new dentries of the directory, so when we finish we have the parent
directory's inode marked as logged but we did not log its new dentries.
As a consequence if the parent directory is explicitly fsynced later and
it does not have any new changes since we logged it, the fsync is a no-op
and after a power failure the new dentries are missing.
Example scenario:

$rmdir foo
$ mkdir dir1
$ mkdir dir2
# A file with the same name and parent as the directory we just deleted
# and was persisted in a past transaction. So the deleted directory's
# inode is a conflicting inode of this new file's inode.
$ touch foo
$ ln foo dir2/link
# The fsync on dir2 will log the parent directory (".") because the
# conflicting inode (deleted directory) does not exists anymore, but it
# it does not log its new dentries (dir1).
$ xfs_io -c "fsync" dir2
# This fsync on the parent directory is no-op, since the previous fsync
# logged it (but without logging its new dentries).
$ xfs_io -c "fsync" .
<power failure>
# After log replay dir1 is missing.
Fix this by ensuring we log new dir dentries whenever we log the parent
directory of a no longer existing conflicting inode.
A test case for fstests will follow soon. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
smb: client: fix oops due to uninitialised var in smb2_unlink()
If SMB2_open_init() or SMB2_close_init() fails (e.g. reconnect), the
iovs set @rqst will be left uninitialised, hence calling
SMB2_open_free(), SMB2_close_free() or smb2_set_related() on them will
oops.
Fix this by initialising @close_iov and @open_iov before setting them
in @rqst. |

| A flaw was found in libinput. An attacker capable of deploying a Lua plugin file in specific system directories can exploit a dangling pointer vulnerability. This occurs when a garbage collection cleanup function is called, leaving a pointer that can then be printed to system logs. This could potentially expose sensitive data if the memory location is re-used, leading to information disclosure. For this exploit to work, Lua plugins must be enabled in libinput and loaded by the compositor. |
| OpenEXR provides the specification and reference implementation of the EXR file format, an image storage format for the motion picture industry. From version 3.4.0 to before version 3.4.8, sensitive information from heap memory may be leaked through the decoded pixel data (information disclosure). This occurs under default settings; simply reading a malicious EXR file is sufficient to trigger the issue, without any user interaction. This issue has been patched in version 3.4.8. |

| An access to an uninitialized pointer flaw was found in X.Org and Xwayland. The function compCheckRedirect() may fail if it cannot allocate the backing pixmap. In that case, compRedirectWindow() will return a BadAlloc error without validating the window tree marked just before, which leaves the validated data partly initialized and the use of an uninitialized pointer later. |
| LIBPNG is a reference library for use in applications that read, create, and manipulate PNG (Portable Network Graphics) raster image files. In versions 1.2.1 through 1.6.55, `png_set_tRNS` and `png_set_PLTE` each alias a heap-allocated buffer between `png_struct` and `png_info`, sharing a single allocation across two structs with independent lifetimes. The `trans_alpha` aliasing has been present since at least libpng 1.0, and the `palette` aliasing since at least 1.2.1. Both affect all prior release lines `png_set_tRNS` sets `png_ptr->trans_alpha = info_ptr->trans_alpha` (256-byte buffer) and `png_set_PLTE` sets `info_ptr->palette = png_ptr->palette` (768-byte buffer). In both cases, calling `png_free_data` (with `PNG_FREE_TRNS` or `PNG_FREE_PLTE`) frees the buffer through `info_ptr` while the corresponding `png_ptr` pointer remains dangling. Subsequent row-transform functions dereference and, in some code paths, write to the freed memory. A second call to `png_set_tRNS` or `png_set_PLTE` has the same effect, because both functions call `png_free_data` internally before reallocating the `info_ptr` buffer. Version 1.6.56 fixes the issue. |
| ImageMagick is free and open-source software used for editing and manipulating digital images. Prior to 7.1.2-18 and 6.9.13-43, due to an incorrect return value on certain platforms a pointer is incremented past the end of a buffer that is on the stack and that could result in an out of bounds write. Versions 7.1.2-18 and 6.9.13-43 patch the issue. |
